NGC 1c Zinc Lincoln Cent Edge Strike MS-66 Red

Edge strike, with part of the memorial building showing on one of the sides of the edge strike, and the other side being the "slide" side, and so having no design.

Edge strikes occur when the planchet spins on its edge on the reverse die's face, and when the obverse die strikes it, the edge receives some of the design on one or both edges. Usually one edge will not have any design because it "slid" across the face of one of the dies, and had it design removed. Very rare error type, although most common on cents.

NGC MS-66 Red with a small carbon spot on one side.
