NGC 1973-S proof Washington quarter double-struck on a cent planchet. The coin has the design of a quarter but is struck on the planchet of a Lincoln cent. It is copper, and is the weight and metal of a cent. Also, it is double-struck, with minor signs of the double-strike around the date and lettering.
A rare off-metal, with approximately 10-12 known proof quarters on cent planchets of all dates. Proof coins have exceptionally high quality controls, and so very few are made and far fewer make it out of the Mints.
PF65 Red/Brown with mostly red surfaces and just a hint of toning.
