This 1958 Jefferson nickel is struck on a 2.6 gram Cuban 1 centavo planchet. The coin's metal is slightly golden colored, but is primarily nickel metal. A very scarce off-metal, with perhaps 5-10. The coin is the 2nd example we've ever handled. Of note is that the entire date shows, which is always a plus on off-metals since many times half or more of it will be cut off due to the smaller planchet.
The Mint was striking coins for Cuba in 1958, and this planchet was accidentally fed into a press striking 1958 nickels, and was struck, creating this off-metal.
