NGC 5c Buffalo Nickel Split Planchet Before Strike VF-30

Split planchet before strike, with split side being on the nickel's reverse. The coin is much thinner than a normal nickel due to the planchet splitting in half before it was struck. A rare error type for the buffalo nickel series, because although a split planchets after strike is relatively common for the series, split planchet before strikes are rare and we've probably only seen 6-10 examples.

NGC did not grade the coin due to the weak strike, but we grade it VF-30.
