Off-metal 1943-S wheat cent struck on a silver Mercury dime planchet. The coin is silver, and weighs 2.5 grams, which is the weight of a 90% silver dime. The error occurred when a planchet intended for striking into a dime was fed into a press strike 1943-S cents, resulting in a coin with the metal of a dime but the design of a cent. A very popular year for mint errors, and off-metals are always in demand for this year. In fact, the most valuable U.S. coin is a 1943 off-metal! Very scarce.
