PCGS 25c 2002-P Tennessee Quarter Obverse Missing Clad Layer & Tapered Planchet MS-65 Red

This is a very scarce error, with the coin having both a missing clad layer and a tapered planchet. The coin missing any design on about 30% of the coin on both sides, and is missing its clad layer on the obverse side. It occurred when the planchet was punched out of the end of the planchet strip, with the nickel layer being shorter than the other layers of nickel and copper. The result is a coin with a tapering effect as you get closer to the edge at 8 O'CLock, and also a missing clad layer. We've only had perhaps one or two of these ever for any state!
