Here's a video showing some of the Minting process for the South African Mint. Around the world, mints are largely the same in terms of how the manufacture coinage. Some machinery is different, various coin types, metals, and shapes of coins are made, but the process doesn't change a lot. Dies are made, they strike coins on planchets: and most of the same types of mint errors are found as a result.
